An American film crew recorded events during 1957 in Mamelodi near Pretoria, South Africa.

The interview focused on how the department looked after the interests of the black Africans. At that time, Mr. Prinsloo, a representative from the Native Affairs or as previously known “Bantu affairs” department, serving under the Hendrik Verwoerd, who was the minister of that portfolio, consented to the interview.

During the interview, Mr. Prinsloo was not surrounded by any bodyguards or police, and in the video, it is evident that the camera crew tried to cover this up by changing the perspective. Mr. Prinsloo was questioned on the policy of separate development. The filming of the township was recently built for black people who have previously lived in slum conditions.

The video was published on August 16, 2015
