RANDFONTEIN – The Randfontein train station, west of Johannesburg, has been indefinitely closed.

According to Metrorail spokesman Lillian Mofokeng said protesters from a nearby community on Monday set fire to two vehicles, looted and vandalised the offices.

“Protesters stole paint and supplies which were going to be used to renovate the station,” said Mofokeng.

Police have not yet commented on the situation.
